The places the Lemongrass Marketing team are dreaming of

For now, travel from home.

Written by Lemongrass Marketing on 9th Apr 2020

It is times like these you appreciate the freedom of travel. We have all had to press pause on our travel plans for the time being but delay, don’t cancel. We will all be able to explore this beautiful planet again soon. For now, travel from home. Here at Lemongrass we have been dreaming about all the places we have been to and all the places we want to visit, so here is a list of some of the hotels and destinations on our bucket list.

(Three Chimneys, Berlin, Six Senses Ninh Bay)

Mirjam Peternek-McCartney, CEO & Founder

‘I’m excited to go back to the Isle of Skye. My favourite place to stay (and almost more importantly eat) is the Three Chimneys – they are exclusively working with small, artisan food producers and the food, rooms and views over Loch Dunvegan are outstanding. It’s pretty much as remote as it gets on Skye. I am also already browsing suitable cottages by Boutique Retreats in preparation for a big reunion will all of our friends over New Year. An annual tradition that we are determined to uphold in 2020. One of my favourite cities is Berlin. I have lots of friends there and really love the new Motel One Berlin Alexanderplatz – or I will be staying at 25 hours Hotel Bikini Berlin. And finally Vietnam and Sweden are on my bucket list for 2021. So I am eyeing up Six Senses Ninh Bay’ as well as Arctic Bath.’

(New York, Cascais, The Artist Residence)

Emily Falkner, Senior Account Executive

‘I have always wanted to visit New York so I am spending some quality time at home refining my itinerary for when I do get to visit. I have a trip to Lisbon booked for later in the summer, if I am unable to go I will postpone to later in the year. I can’t wait to try the famous Portuguese sweet treats and of course take the quick trip along the coast to Cascais, here I will be trying my hand at surfing. I had a long weekend staying in a shepherds hut at The Artist Residence in Oxfordshire booked in May however, I have postponed this for later in the year. The shepherds hut is tucked away overlooking the herb garden – a cosy bolthole, with double bed, log burner and a compact en-suite bathroom with rainfall shower – I can’t wait.’

(Tokyo, Whatley Manor, Galicia)

Alex Liste, Account Manager

‘Having just delayed my two and a half week holiday around Japan, I can’t wait to get some new dates in the diary and go on that holiday of a lifetime. From crazy tech filled city adventures in Tokyo to exploring Japan’s nature in Hakone and Kanazawa. I am excited to book a stay at Whatley Manor, I have been watching the 15th series of BBC Two’s Great British Menu and among the first episode’s chef contestants was Niall Keating, Executive Chef at Whatley Manor, his food looks irresistible! Galicia will be my first trip though, I am looking forward to visiting ‘home’ to see my family and to also enjoy some great Spanish home cooking and walks on the beaches and the cobbled streets of Santiago de Compostela. I will also be booking a trip to Hacienda de San Rafael, it is perfect for anyone looking for a genuine and authentic Andalusian experience.’

(Puglia, Kasiiya Papagayo Retreat, Borneo)

Victoria Martinelli, Executive Assistant

I’ve been longing to return to Puglia for the food, wine and the people. The ancient towns, extravagant churches, the culture, the olive-green seas and did I mention the food? I will be booking a trip to Costa Rica purely for the wildlife including the sloths and the jaguars and I will be staying at Origins Lodge and the Kasiiya Papagayo Retreat.  I would love to go to visit an Orangutan school and Borneo would be the dream destination to do.’

(Yosemite National Park, Argonaut Hotel, andBeyond)

Danielle Uphill, Senior Sales Account Manager

‘I would love to slow travel around California and the National Parks with my sister starting with Yosemite for all the hiking. Then on to California for a road trip staying in San Francisco at the Argonaut Hotel, I would stay at the Renaissance Lodge in Sonoma, L’Auberge Valley Range in Carmel, the Cheshire Cat Inn in Santa Barbara and finally Palihouse Hotel in Santa Monica. Closer to home, I am planning a trip to The Grove in Hertfordshire, the rooms look stunning! My dream destination for 2021 would be visiting Asia again for a tour round Sri Lanka with andBeyond.’

(Canopy and Stars, Vienna)

Abi Best, Commercial Director

I am already browsing Canopy and Stars website for our first family trip when we are allowed to travel again. I think my son would love to explore the Devon or Cornwall coastline and Canopy and Stars have some amazing glamping options. Vienna is my favourite destination so I will certainly be booking a long weekend there, there is a host of new bars and restaurants I want to try too.’

(Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, Lake Constance)

Donna Bennett, Senior Account Manager

‘My friends and I will be heading straight to Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, we have always wanted to go and there will be a lot of birthday celebrations to catch up on and there is no better place to do it! As soon as I can I will also be visiting all four countries around Lake Constance in one trip; Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Lake Constance region is doing its part in embracing sustainability and preserving the natural beauty found around the Lake too which I love.’

(FORESTIS and Killiehuntly Farmhouse)

Dajana Trzin, Sales and Business Development Executive

‘As soon as FORESTIS opens its doors later this year, I will be booking my trip to South Tyrol. This luxury hideaway will be perfect for adventure and relaxation, I can’t wait to try my hand at Wyda Celtic yoga. I have also always wanted to stay at Killiehuntly Farmhouse in Scotland with my family. Killiehuntly is more than a luxurious stay in one of the most beautiful settings in the world, they offer activities like wild swimming and fishing, and Killiehuntly is furnished with a Scandinavian Aesthetic for the ultimate comfort.’

(Lausanne, Johannesburg)

Simoné Campbell, Senior Account Executive

Lausanne, Switzerland was recently ranked as Monocle’s ‘best small city’ in their Small City Index so this is certainly on my bucket list. At the moment, the Swiss city are doing their best to share their incredible cultural offering virtually. There are 27 online exhibitions available, varying from the art of sport photography to a look into some of the stories of the Olympians and past Games. Born and raised in South Africa, I will be making sure I visit my family and friends back home as soon as I can too.’

(Lanserhof at the Arts Club, Watergate Bay Hotel)

Bernice Dixon Lines, Client Services Director

‘Strengthening our immune system has never been so important and Lanserhof at the Arts Club has been giving their advice via their social channels which has been super helpful whilst being at home.  A few visits to restore and regenerate some kind of equilibrium after all this is over is definitely on the cards.  Having had two young boys climbing the walls at home a trip to the wild coastline of Cornwall will be first on the list to the beautiful Watergate Bay Hotel.  Any hotel that puts up with sand galore, soggy wetsuits and energetic kids whilst still serving a mean gin and tonic with an awesome sea view gets my vote.’
